War, national minorities, grain, and corruption: what will determine the course of Ukraine’s EU accession negotiations
26.06.2024 18:37The average salary of officials in Ukraine increased by 32% over the first four months of 2024, surpassing 50,000 hryvnias (1,150 euros).
This information comes from the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
The average accrued salary in May reached 50,900 hryvnias, up from 38,600 hryvnias in January.
The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NERC) leads in terms of salary levels, with an average of 89,700 hryvnias (2,060 euros). The Antimonopoly Committee follows closely with 88,300 hryvnias. The lowest salaries are found in the State Regulatory Service, with an average of 24,700 hryvnias (567 euros).
The Ministry of Finance emphasized that the salary structure for the specified months includes vacation pay and material assistance for social and domestic issues, which contributes to the increase in the salary levels of individual employees and the overall organization.
The salary increase was made possible by the implementation of a new pay system based on a grade classification of positions. This system was designed to increase the salary levels of public sector employees, as well as to ensure predictability and transparency of salaries, according to the Ministry.
It was previously reported that the average salary in Ukraine in the first quarter of 2024 increased by 22.5% compared to the same period last year, amounting to 18,903 hryvnias.
Additionally, Bloomberg reported that the growth in salaries in Ukraine is related to a labor shortage caused by mass emigration and mobilization.
