Not all NATO countries want to commit to multi-year military aid for Ukraine – Bloomberg

Some NATO countries are refusing to make specific long-term commitments to military spending for Ukraine due to the unpredictability of the situation on the front lines and the lack of clarity on what assistance Kyiv will need in the future.

This was reported by Bloomberg, citing sources.

The issue revolves around NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s proposal to spend at least 40 billion euros annually on military aid to Ukraine.

Some countries prefer to pledge continued support without specifying amounts, while others are reluctant to disclose the extent of their contributions. There are also concerns about the risk of reducing their own defense budgets. Consequently, the assistance and its size are likely to be determined on an annual basis.

A multi-year support plan is intended to be presented to Ukraine at the NATO summit in Washington this July.
