Did not applaud Zelensky in Congress: Trump nominated a candidate for U.S. Attorney General and head of the Department of Justice

Incoming U.S. President Donald Trump has proposed appointing Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz as the head of the Department of Justice and U.S. Attorney General in his administration.

Gaetz, a Republican, is notable for leading the effort that resulted in the ousting of fellow Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. He was also one of two congressmen who did not applaud Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his address to Congress, a moment visible in available video footage.

Additionally, Gaetz initiated a resolution demanding that President Biden halt aid to Ukraine.

It was also recently revealed that Trump has nominated Tulsi Gabbard, a vocal critic of Zelensky and advocate for negotiations with Russia, as Director of National Intelligence.

Furthermore, Trump reportedly wants to appoint South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, who opposes aid to Ukraine, as head of the Department of Homeland Security.
