Drunk Chilean shoots two Spanish servicemen of the AFU in Mykolaiv

In Mykolaiv, a Chilean national fighting on Ukraine’s side shot and killed two of his fellow servicemen — citizens of Spain. Details of the incident were published by the Spanish outlet El País, citing Ukrainian police.

All three — a Chilean national and two Spanish nationals — were AFU servicemen traveling together in one vehicle. During the journey, a quarrel broke out between them. The Chilean, who was sitting in the back seat, opened fire and killed both of his companions.

At the time of his detention, the suspect was given a breathalyzer test. The device showed 2.29 grams of alcohol per liter of blood, corresponding to a severe level of intoxication.

“Police also seized three weapons found in the vehicle and collected other ballistic evidence,” El País reports.

The Chilean faces a sentence of between 15 years and life imprisonment.

The outlet had previously reported that citizens of Latin America were coming to fight on Ukraine’s side. A Dutch volunteer who had taken part in combat operations in Ukraine stated that among his Colombian fellow servicemen there were many former cartel members. According to him, he had heard accounts of them committing war crimes, using torture, and inflicting mutilations, and the Colombian fighters themselves had shown him photographs of beheadings.
