During the restoration of Borodyanka in the Kyiv region, 472.7 thousand euros ‘disappeared,’ according to the State Audit Service

In the village of Borodyanka in the Kyiv region, 20 million hryvnias (approximately 472,703 euros) disappeared from the local budget. The fact of the embezzlement of funds intended for the restoration of the village was recorded during an audit of the village council.

This information was provided by the press service of the State Audit Service.

As noted, the main part of the violations, amounting to 14 million hryvnias (approximately 330,893 euros), was the absence of metal-plastic windows, which the village council was supposed to install as part of the restoration of the Kiev region. The works on the restoration of windows and doors were carried out at prices several times higher than market prices. As a result, there was ineffective budget distribution in the amount of 5.2 million hryvnias.

According to the checklists of the “Recovery” program, financial assistance in the amount of 2.6 million hryvnias was provided for the repair of damaged houses. However, it became known that the same amount was spent on the same works, which led to their actual doubling.

The State Audit Service explained that such an approach leads to the double financing of certain individuals at the expense of other taxpayers. The department has forwarded all the information to the Prosecutor General’s Office to initiate criminal proceedings.
