Young Polish women against Ukrainian women: competition for jobs, housing, and male attention intensifies hostility
June 23, 2025The apartment of Taras Topolia, frontman of the Ukrainian band Antytila, was destroyed during a nighttime missile strike on Kyiv.
He shared the news on his Facebook page.
According to the artist, he lives in a building across from the one whose entrance was destroyed as a result of the attack.
“Everything inside is shattered. The blast wave bent and tore out the armored door from its frame. Only the walls remain—and even those are partially destroyed. We were lucky—everyone in the family is alive,” Topolia wrote.
Ukrainian MP Maryana Bezuhla responded by calling the damage to Topolia’s apartment “karma.” She accused him of producing a “commissioned song” (Fortress Bakhmut) and enlisting in the military “for show.”
“See how it turns out, Topolia. You enlisted for appearances—uniform, interviews, a commissioned little song ‘Fortress Bakhmut’—at a time when fortifications in Bakhmut were being ignored, common sense abandoned, and [Commander] Syrskyi was competing with [Wagner leader] Prigozhin to see who could get more people killed over a single house… And you sang your sweet little song and then peacefully resigned for your next tour. A fake service—real war. A real Russian Shahed drone, a missile that doesn’t care whether you ‘made a deal’ at the university to dodge the draft, or whether you’re a VIP with fake service. Karma,” Bezuhla wrote.
