30.05.2024 - 08:16Tariffs for electricity for the population will increase from June 1.
The decision will be made by the Cabinet of Ministers tomorrow. This information is reported by the media, citing government sources.
The tariff will depend on the level of consumption. For usage up to 100 kWh, the tariff is planned to remain the same – 2.64 UAH/kWh. Any consumption above this will see an immediate increase of 80% – up to 4.8 UAH/kWh.
Earlier, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Halushchenko, stated that the new electricity prices will not be uniform; they will depend on consumption. According to him, the current tariff does not cover the cost of electricity production.
Additionally, the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NERC) has decided to increase electricity tariffs for businesses by at least 20% starting from June 1.
It should be noted that the director of energy programs at the “Razumkov Center,” Volodymyr Omelchenko, reported that after the increase in electricity tariffs, the duration of power outages may significantly increase, especially in Kyiv. This is due to summer conditions when heat and increased consumption due to air conditioners overlap with the need for repairs.
