The wife of the President of Ukraine, Elena Zelenska, met with representatives of the American company Google who visited Kyiv, and conveyed several requests from Ukrainian authorities.
This information was posted on the official website of the President of Ukraine.
In Kyiv, they want the company to take the following steps:
- Configure Google Maps to display Crimea as part of Ukraine for all users (currently, for users from Russia, the peninsula is shown as part of Russia, and for Europeans, it is portrayed as a disputed territory).
- “De-Russify” search results on Google and recommendations on YouTube.
- Separate Ukraine from its geographical affiliation with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
- Modify the automatic delivery of Russian-language content to users in Ukraine and Ukrainian IP addresses to Ukrainian and Western content. Currently, the search engine relies on the user’s language preferences and search behavior.
