Employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine have been stripped of their mobilization deferments

Rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine have been stripped of their deferment from mobilization and will now be drafted.

This information is detailed in a petition on the president’s website, which has already garnered over 20,000 signatures in a single day.

“We appeal to you because of the removal of deferment and mobilization of rescuers, fire protection personnel, emergency services, rapid response units, and other civil protection workers. Currently, the deferment has been removed from some of the fighters!” writes the petition author, Angelina Ben.

She urged President Zelensky to restore the mobilization deferment for firefighters and other rescuers, as they are essential for addressing the consequences of increasing shelling.

Previously, we discussed how the deferment schemes for workers operate and their costs. Formally, enterprises recognized as strategic have the right to defer up to 50% of their employees, and some even more. However, in practice, even these enterprises often struggle to secure mobilization deferments for their workers.
