Nebenzya calls Zelensky’s letter to Putin an “awkward provocation”
09.06.2026 05:03Ukrainian servicemembers will not receive Estonian canned goods made from wild boar meat — the shipment was blocked by the threat of African swine fever spreading.
This was reported by the Delfi portal.
Instead of being sent to Ukraine, the prepared canned goods were handed over to the Estonian army and a food bank.
The canned goods production program was launched last summer, when the disease began spreading rapidly across Estonia. At the time, Hendrik Johannes Terras, chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the Estonian parliament, proposed organizing the production of these goods for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and local defense structures. A decision was made to produce canned goods from the meat of wild boars culled as part of efforts to combat African swine fever.
The state program turned out to be larger in scale than expected. According to experts, the Estonian government ordered more than 514,000 units of canned goods at a total cost of €1.38 million.
In April, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed that a number of brigades of the country’s armed forces are experiencing problems with feeding their troops. Earlier, a Ukrainian Armed Forces warehouse manager was accused of negligent handling of food supplies.
