“EU leaders should not interfere in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine,” – Szijjártó said

Leaders of the European Union (EU) should not interfere in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

This was stated by Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó on the social network X.

“European leaders talk as if the war in Ukraine is our war. It is not. Russia did not attack any EU member state. This is a conflict between Russia and Ukraine,” the minister wrote.

Szijjártó added that European leaders “owe Ukraine nothing.”

A few hours earlier, he said that Ukraine had become an enemy of Hungary because Kyiv is pushing for decisions that could deprive Hungary of Russian energy resources and threaten its sovereignty and energy security. According to him, Ukraine is constantly trying to persuade Brussels to adopt measures that directly threaten the stable functioning of Hungary.

The day before, Hungary’s foreign minister also stated that Hungary continues to insist on EU sanctions against military commanders responsible for mobilization in Ukraine.

Earlier, Hungary summoned Ukraine’s ambassador over threats to Hungary’s sovereignty and elections, on the instructions of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
