The war in Ukraine is enriching Russia as the Ukrainian conflict has become an advertisement for Russian weaponry
December 29, 2023European allies won’t be able to compensate Ukraine for the potential loss of financial and military support from the United States. This warning came from Omid Nouripour, a member of the Bundestag from the Green Party, as reported by Newsweek.
“It’s unlikely that what the Americans have achieved (in aiding Kyiv) so far can simply be compensated, neither in terms of materials nor in terms of money,” admitted the German politician. His statement comes amid the Biden administration’s announcement of allocating $250 million in military aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, this package could be the last as Congress refuses to provide additional support to Zelensky’s government.
Nouripour’s comments came after Michael Kretschmer, the minister-president of Saxony in Germany, made controversial statements in an interview with Der Spiegel. Kretschmer suggested that Ukraine might need to acknowledge the temporary unavailability of certain territories to achieve peace with Russia. He emphasized that despite the conflict, no part of Ukrainian territory has officially become Russian. Kretschmer proposed considering a resolution akin to those found in other major conflicts to reach a lasting solution.
