Former Polish foreign minister: Nawrocki gained nothing by stripping Zelensky of his award
09.06.2026 10:03According to Politico, Kyiv’s push to accelerate its accession to the European Union is creating tensions between Ukraine, Brussels, and a number of European capitals — diplomats and European officials told the outlet.
Ukraine is hoping to open several negotiating clusters before the end of summer, rather than just one as had previously been envisaged. It is precisely this pace that is causing concern among European partners.
European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos stated that the EU accession process does not involve specific dates. At the same time, she acknowledged that if all conditions are met, Ukraine could join the bloc by 2030.
Earlier, Kos also announced that on June 15 the European Union will officially open membership negotiations with Ukraine. That day, an intergovernmental conference is planned to formally open talks within the first legislative cluster, which covers issues of justice, institutions, procurement, financial control, and statistics.
Previously, Poland called for a veto on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
