09.04.2024 - 16:00As the US Congress continues to delay in providing additional assistance to Ukraine, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are finding it increasingly difficult to sustain their military efforts.
This is reported by The Washington Post.
Each day of delay by the House of Representatives complicates Ukraine’s situation and reduces the chances of a positive outcome for the conflict, even if aid from the US eventually arrives.
As the publication notes, Russia is resorting to methods that make it difficult for Ukraine to defend itself. One example cited by The Washington Post is the use by Russian forces of planning bombs—munitions containing up to half a ton of explosives, equipped with wings and guidance systems that allow for flights over long distances with high precision. These allow Russian aircraft to stay out of range and fire beyond the reach of Ukrainian anti-aircraft systems.
In order to counter Russian aviation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces “desperately need” artillery shells and missiles for Patriot air defense systems, but for the past six months, the US has been unable to provide such necessary assistance. There are also internal problems in Kiev that cannot be solved with Washington’s money—ordinary Ukrainians are reluctant to go to the front, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces are increasingly suffering from fatigue and numerous losses.
