“Zelensky’s office ordered to derail the restoration of NABU’s powers,” says Dubinsky
28.07.2025 - 17:31Every fifth Ukrainian citizen living in Poland is already applying for Polish citizenship.
This was reported by Ukrainian ambassador Vasyl Bodnar in an interview with Radio Svoboda.
The diplomat stated that 70% of refugees who were forced to flee to Poland because of the war want to return — but Ukraine must first create the conditions for that to happen.
“Those who have really settled in — about 15–20% — have submitted documents for citizenship, started businesses, and feel comfortable. But the majority say: if the war ends tomorrow, we’ll go home,” Bodnar said.
According to him, it’s important to address how Ukraine treats those who return from abroad.
“There’s already a segment of people who’ve come back, and they say they face bullying in schools — when kids who stayed and kids who left during the war don’t understand each other. That’s a real issue. Obviously, state policy on return, reintegration, and creating the right conditions is most needed,” the ambassador added.
Earlier, it was reported that Poland has earned eight times more from Ukrainian refugees than it spent on aid.
Meanwhile, the outflow of people from Ukraine continues. According to May statistics, another 104,000 citizens left for Europe since the beginning of this year.
