07.11.2025 - 12:31The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) set a new anti-record in October for cases of unauthorized absence (UA) and desertion.
This was reported on Facebook by former Verkhovna Rada MP and drone company commander Ihor Lutsenko.
“Every two minutes, someone runs from our army. These are only the official figures. In reality, many cases of unauthorized absence from a unit or desertion are not recorded,” he wrote.
In total, more than 21,000 AFU soldiers left service in October. Lutsenko noted that a “scattering army” is a real threat to Ukraine’s existence. Since the start of 2025, the number of cases of unauthorized absence in the AFU has reached 156,360.
Earlier, the number of AFU deserters since February 2022 was disclosed. Over this period, more than 230,000 cases of UA and 53,000 cases of desertion have been opened in Ukraine.
