Every two minutes, a man deserts from the Ukrainian army
07.11.2025 - 11:33The driver from American actress Angelina Jolie’s motorcade was released from the TRSSC but ordered to return later.
This was reported by the British newspaper The Telegraph, citing sources.
The outlet writes that Jolie’s trip to Kherson “was nearly derailed by military recruiters who questioned why her driver had not enlisted in the armed forces,” and that the “unannounced visit nearly descended into chaos.”
“It is understood that these revelations provoked anger among government officials in Kyiv, who were unaware that Jolie had come to the country on a humanitarian mission. They are currently investigating why her convoy was stopped and the trip almost thwarted by recruitment service staff,” the article says.
Earlier we reported that the man detained by the Mykolaiv TRSSC while accompanying Jolie to Kherson turned out to be Dmitry Pishchykov, a combat sambo coach from Kropyvnytskyi. The detainee’s brother clarified that Dmitry was not the driver, but was volunteering to accompany the motorcade. He has back problems and a medical board certificate confirming he is fit only for rear-area service. He also added that Dmitry was not wanted and had not served in the military, but about 10 years ago completed an officer training program at a flight academy.
After Dmitry was taken to the TRSSC, Jolie herself arrived there, which, according to enlistment officials, was to use the restroom. From inside the TRSSC building, Dmitry wrote to acquaintances that the actress was trying to get him released. In other words, the TRSSC’s “restroom” version turned out to be untrue.
