KMIS poll: 61% of Ukrainians would support a ceasefire if European troops are deployed
08.06.2026 12:00Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern has stated that Russian armed forces are making successful advances in the combat zone in Ukraine. According to him, Russian forces are steadily moving toward the Dnieper River. He expressed his view on the YouTube channel Judging Freedom.
“The Russians are advancing. They are getting closer, closer, and closer,” McGovern said.
In the expert’s assessment, Russian forces have only three major cities in Donbas left to bring under their control.
“And then there will be complete dominance — a clear path to the Dnieper,” he continued.
In addition, McGovern emphasized that Russian forces hold the initiative across all sectors of the special military operation.
Earlier, military commentator and retired colonel Viktor Baranets commented on criticism directed at the pace of the Russian offensive. According to him, many commentators claim that Russian forces are not advancing fast enough, but such “experts” often have no understanding of the real situation on the line of contact. Baranets also stressed that the main criterion is not the speed of advance, but achieving results with minimal losses.
