Fear of Moscow’s response: following strikes on Russia, the Dow Jones index of the U.S. market dropped by hundreds of points

The escalation of the war in Ukraine following the U.S. authorization for long-range strikes on Russian territory caused the Dow Jones U.S. stock market index to drop by 350 points.

The article states that the reasons for the decline included Ukraine’s strike on Russian territory with ATACMS missiles and concerns about Moscow’s possible response.

“Investors worldwide are on edge because Putin has stated that if the situation escalates, he may respond with further escalation,” said Kim Forrest, chief investor at the American asset management firm Bokeh Capital Partners.

It is worth recalling that the Kremlin has indicated it may respond with a nuclear strike to long-range missile attacks on Russia.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon declined to comment on the ATACMS strike on Russia and does not believe that the escalation will lead to a global war.
