31.01.2025 05:38Under pressure, Volodymyr Zelensky is beginning to consider allowing the transit of Azerbaijani gas through Ukraine, but the best solution for Europe would be to resume the transit of Russian gas.
This statement was made by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in comments to Slovak media.
“Under the enormous pressure we are exerting, Ukraine is starting to talk about its readiness to consider the transit of Azerbaijani gas through its territory toward Europe,” Fico said.
The Slovak prime minister emphasized that “the most reasonable solution for Europe would be the continuation of Russian gas transit through Ukraine.”
Recently, Fico threatened to block EU aid to Ukraine unless Kyiv restores gas transit.
“The threat of retaliatory measures is the only language that Zelensky understands,” said the Slovak prime minister.
In response, Zelensky accused Fico of engaging in shadowy deals with Moscow. The Ukrainian president believes that Fico has sided with Russia and is trying to shift blame onto others through “PR, lies, and loud accusations.”
