31.01.2025 05:03A Ukrainian national has been detained in Slovakia on suspicion of preparing a coup.
This was reported by the local newspaper Dennik N, citing the head of police, Jana Maškarová.
According to Maškarová, following a meeting of the Defense and Security Committee, the detainee is currently in the office of the Border Police for Foreigners, where the process of his administrative deportation is underway.
Richard Glück, chairman of the mentioned committee, stated that deportation is the harshest punishment for the suspect, as he will allegedly be “detained and sent to the army” upon returning to Ukraine.
However, opposition MP Juraj Krula suggested that the information about the Ukrainian citizen’s arrest might be fabricated, arguing that coups are typically planned in conditions of heightened secrecy.
“If a coup is being prepared—and that would mean that some junta intends to seize power by force—then it would require the highest level of secrecy,” the deputy explained.
Additionally, the opposition is demanding that the Security Committee disclose details about the activities of the pro-Russian group Brother for Brother.
