December 18, 2023The issue of allocating 50 billion euros to Ukraine may not be addressed by the European Council in January, as announced, but rather on February 1, 2024.
The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced this date for the next summit, as reported by his spokesperson. According to the IMF’s assessment, Ukraine will be able to manage without external assistance during January and February 2024.
The problem with allocating this amount to Kyiv lies in internal opposition. Hungary, Slovakia and Austria oppose aiding Ukraine. With certain compromises by the governments of these countries, their position may change. However, economic issues within Europe prevent unlimited assistance to Zelensky’s regime.
