11.11.2025 - 08:01On Saturday, November 8, for the first time all major cities of Ukraine were left without electricity.
The outlet notes that the power went out after a nighttime attack by Russian forces on power plants and substations and did not return by evening. On Sunday, electricity supply in Kyiv and other cities was partially restored—three times a day for three hours each, the article says.
Earlier, Federation Council member Vladimir Dzhabarov claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky staged and choreographed the blackout during an interview. According to him, Zelensky has backup generators, so he could not have been without electricity even for a minute. Therefore, Dzhabarov said, the performance was done specifically to elicit sympathy.
Before that, the Kyiv city administration announced the suspension of the funicular connecting the Upper Town and Podil. The authorities linked this situation to power outages in the city.
