December 12, 2023The Security Service of Ukraine has announced the arrest of a deputy involved in racketeering in the Zhytomyr region, who, along with a gang, kidnapped individuals and extorted money from them.
This information was released by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine.
The individual’s name has not been disclosed. However, according to public information, it is purportedly Mikhail Lukomsky, a council deputy of Korostyshiv from the Radical Party of Oleh Lyashko.
People were taken to specially equipped torture chambers. The actions of the gang affected no fewer than 30 families. Among the victims was a Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman. The racketeers threatened to maim and then kill his pregnant wife if the serviceman didn’t hand over 190,000 hryvnias (approximately 4,800 euros).
Earlier, around 10 gang members were detained, including their leader, the overseer in Korostyshiv. The involvement of the council deputy has been established. According to the investigation, he personally participated in the kidnapping and torture of individuals. Subsequently, he compelled them to bring money directly to the city council.
