07.05.2025 - 06:10A bail of 18 million hryvnias (approximately €383,040) has been posted for former Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Smyrnov.
This was reported by Ukrainian media, citing Smyrnov’s legal team.
Under the conditions of his release, Smyrnov is required to appear at the request of law enforcement, report any change in residence or employment, avoid contact with individuals named in the court ruling, and surrender his foreign passports for safekeeping.
To recall, in May of last year, Smyrnov was first charged with illicit enrichment totaling 15.7 million hryvnias (approx. €334,096). At that time, he also posted bail and remained free.
In April of this year, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) issued new charges against him under two articles: money laundering, accepting a bribe in an especially large amount.
Yesterday, the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) revised his pre-trial restrictions and ordered him into custody until May 22, with the possibility of release on bail of 18 million hryvnias. Prosecutors had requested that Smyrnov be held in custody with an alternative bail amount of over 20 million hryvnias (approx. €425,600).
