Former Trump adviser calls for a complete halt to support for Ukraine to implement the U.S. peace plan

Former adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump Steve Bannon has called for a complete halt to financial, military, and intelligence support for Ukraine, stating that without this, it is impossible to implement the peace plan on resolving the conflict that was developed in Washington.

Bannon said this in an interview with The American Conservative magazine.

“It all has to stop. All of it. The money. The weapons. The intelligence support,” he said.

But Bannon himself believes this is unlikely.

“Trump doesn’t want to simply cut off arms supplies to Ukraine and speed up the end of this conflict, because he knows Ukraine will lose and doesn’t want to be blamed for that. He wants to be able to say that the West, including the U.S., supported Ukraine until the very end, and that Ukraine is to blame for the defeat,” he explained.

Bannon also called the current 28-point draft peace plan for resolving the conflict overly complex and practically unworkable, since there are points on which compromise is impossible — in particular, the issue of NATO and the size of the Ukrainian army.

Let us recall that the day before, Zelensky spoke of disagreements with Trump and the absence of a compromise on the issue of Ukrainian territories.
