Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba said that taxes in the country will be raised in order to join the European Union

Taxes in Ukraine will be raised for the sake of joining the European Union.

This was stated by former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

“The IMF says: if you want us to give you money, do this. And it says there: raise taxes. The European Union says: if you want us to give you even more money, fulfill the IMF’s conditions. And on top of that, since you are also seeking EU membership, if you do not do this, you will not join. So we have no choice in the reality in which we live,” the former foreign minister said.

Earlier, members of the Verkhovna Rada said that Ukraine could face a financial catastrophe as early as the beginning of spring if the authorities do not raise taxes in order to receive a new loan from the International Monetary Fund.

Meanwhile, a few days ago Ukraine’s Finance Ministry published a new draft law on tax increases, which the International Monetary Fund is requiring the country to adopt.
