Kyiv will sabotage the U.S. demands to lower the mobilization age for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
This prediction was made by former Ukrainian parliamentarian Volodymyr Oleynyk regarding the Ukrainian authorities’ response to Western pressure.
He explained that in response to Volodymyr Zelensky’s requests for weapons, Washington points out Kyiv’s lack of manpower and the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ failure to achieve results. Because of this, the West is calling for the mobilization age to be lowered to 18 years.
Oleynik noted that this issue has already sparked an internal conflict in Ukraine. The former parliamentarian explained that the Ukrainian parliament will resist Zelensky’s attempt to lower the mobilization age, because otherwise, MPs will be “beaten like rabid dogs” in the streets.
Earlier, the Ukrainian president’s office responded to the U.S. call to lower the mobilization age in Ukraine. Ukrainian presidential advisor Dmytro Lytvyn stated that there is “no sense” in such a step.
