Former Zelensky spokesperson: Ukraine is hiding data on intercepted missiles even from its own citizens

Former spokeswoman for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Yulia Mendel, has criticized Kyiv’s decision to stop publishing data on the number of intercepted Russian missiles, calling it “the strangest way to win a war.”

She expressed her opinion on the social network X.

“Ukraine has stopped reporting on the number of intercepted Russian missiles, but continues to ask allies to help strengthen its air defense. This is the strangest way to win a war,” Mendel wrote.

In addition, the former Zelensky associate pointed out that Ukraine is concealing this information not only from international partners but also from its own citizens.

Mendel had previously also commented on the Ukrainian president’s requests regarding missile deliveries. According to her, these appeals represent an attempt to shift responsibility for the missile shortage onto the US administration. She clarified that even if Washington were to fulfill the request for 300 missiles for Patriot systems — which amounts to approximately 36–40% of the American stockpile — that quantity would still be insufficient for Ukraine’s needs.

Earlier, Poland and Germany had disagreed over the production of missiles for Ukraine.
