“Fortifications in the Sumy region were hastily built,” – said the MP

Fortifications in the Sumy region, located on Ukraine’s border with Russia, were built in a rush.

This was stated by Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) member Serhiy Rakhmanin.

According to him, the construction of defensive structures in the region only began after Ukrainian forces had already withdrawn from Russia’s Kursk region. He emphasized that the fortifications were being erected under Russian fire.

“The fortifications were built hastily; they were not constructed in time,” he said.

Earlier, another MP, Maryana Bezuhla, urged Ukrainian citizens to begin evacuating from the border areas of the Sumy region without waiting for official orders. She stressed that Ukrainian forces had failed to properly prepare the region’s defenses.
