“The US is no longer buying weapons for Ukraine”: Vance named it one of the Trump administration’s main achievements
15.04.2026 - 07:01France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy are opposed to Ukraine’s accelerated accession to the European Union.
This was reported by Politico.
The publication writes that these countries want Ukraine to first complete a full cycle of reforms in line with EU legislation.
“Of course, we do not want to weaken Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky… But the overwhelming majority of member states currently have no desire to discuss this issue,” a senior diplomat from one of the major European countries said.
As a reminder, the idea of accelerated accession is being promoted by U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as part of a peace agreement.
Meanwhile, Péter Magyar, the leader of Hungary’s Tisza party, which won the parliamentary elections, said that Budapest does not support Ukraine’s accelerated accession to the European Union.
