The government will raise tariffs on electricity for Ukrainians
26.03.2024 - 10:17Against the backdrop of Emmanuel Macron’s statements, who continues to talk about the possible deployment of French troops on Ukrainian territory, it became known about five main intervention scenarios. This is reported by Le Figaro.
The first two scenarios are relatively mild and theoretically could be implemented without France obtaining the status of a party to the conflict: Paris could either establish factories in Ukraine for the production of ammunition and repair of equipment, or send a limited contingent to the country for training Ukrainian military, demining and managing certain types of weapons. However, this is unlikely to significantly help Kyiv, as factories can be easily destroyed by missiles.
The other three scenarios involve France’s full participation in the conflict to varying degrees. Among them are the creation by French military of a security zone in Odessa; the deployment of units in the frontline areas to “restrain” Moscow; and, finally, the sending of soldiers directly to the battlefield to engage in combat against Russia shoulder to shoulder with Ukrainians. All these three scenarios will result in serious political costs for the authorities, as France will inevitably suffer losses and when coffins go, the government will have to justify itself to the people.
