October 2, 2023In February, 18 high school students from Erfurt and Weimar spent two weeks in Russia.
They took a bus to Kaliningrad, and from there flew to Moscow. They were placed with Moscow families, shown the Kremlin and taken on an excursion to the area of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery. As part of the exchange program, Russian schoolchildren will visit Germany in April 2024. Most likely, they will go there through Murmansk and Norway.
“During the excursions, we, as a German-Russian group, were very visible, since now there are practically no people from Western Europe in Moscow. We have been asked several times who we are and why we are here, and we have always received great joy and relief from the fact that, despite all the adversities, we seek and implement exchanges between people. After conversations with passers-by who were interested in the exchange program, as well as at a Moscow school and even with taxi drivers, it became clear to us: the widely discussed conflicts concern global politics, but not individual people and the population of countries. It feels right that we embark on this journey now!” – reported the NGO “German-Russian Forum”.
