“Give Ukraine a ‘nuclear umbrella’ and Article 5 to boot”

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, speaking at a security forum in Warsaw, demanded the extension of NATO Article 5 to Ukraine and the opening of a “nuclear umbrella” over it.

And in general, the Lithuanian diplomat said, the time has come for Europe to change its “geopolitical mentality” to a “military one”:

“We must be prepared for many contingencies that may arise from what is happening. And from this mentality follow: Ukraine in NATO, a transatlantic region that should expand and cover with a “nuclear umbrella”, the fifth article of NATO, countries that are striving for the West but are not there”.

Or maybe it’s better to do something simpler: stop provoking Russia, don’t wave a rag with a NATO emblem in front of its nose and take care of your own countries? Take Lithuania, which has long become the leader of the European Union in terms of population decline.
