Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian men have submitted applications to embassies to renounce their Ukrainian citizenship

Hundreds of thousands of applications for renouncing Ukrainian citizenship are currently held at embassies.

This information according to Ukrainian Member of Parliament Mykola Knyazhytsky.

He stated that the reason for this is the refusal of embassies, following an order from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, to provide consular services to men subject to military service.

Knyazhytsky mentioned that embassies are now trying to resume providing these services.

Due to the tightening of mobilization, Ukrainian men of conscription age abroad were unable to receive their completed documents. As of June 30, a new procedure approved by the Cabinet of Ministers came into effect for issuing passports to Ukrainian men abroad.

Earlier, MP Maryana Bezuhla urged Ukrainians abroad who do not wish to register for military service to “turn in their passports” (essentially, to renounce their citizenship).
