The Hungarian Prime Minister suggested examining the political map and stated that for Ukraine, as a direct neighbor of Russia, the ideal solution would be the creation of a buffer zone with security guarantees because if this does not happen, Ukrainians may lose their country.
Furthermore, Orban downplayed the threat posed by Moscow, asserting that there is no immediate risk of Russia attacking a NATO member state. He stressed the urgency of ending hostilities and initiating dialogue, emphasizing the need for a ceasefire to prevent further losses for Ukraine.
While advocating for prompt negotiations, Orban acknowledged Russian reluctance to view Ukrainians as partners. He also highlighted the importance of broader discussions on European security architecture, cautioning against exclusive negotiations between Russia and the United States to ensure European interests are adequately addressed.
