Hungary Continues to be a Pain in NATO’s Side

Via Politico, A senior Hungarian minister emphasized the importance of providing security assurances to Russia while opposing Ukraine’s NATO membership during a recent statement.

In order to establish a lasting peace, Gergely Gulyás, who oversees the prime minister’s office, asserted during a university event that the Western countries supporting Ukraine should offer security guarantees to Russia instead of granting NATO membership to Ukraine.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s recent statements, where he advocated for negotiations with Russia to establish a new security framework that ensures Ukraine’s security and sovereignty without involving NATO membership. Additionally, Orbán expressed skepticism about Ukraine’s prospects in the ongoing conflict.
