Hungary issued a demand to Ukraine amid the Middle East conflict

Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, has appealed to the Ukrainian authorities with a demand amid the Middle East crisis.

The statement was made on Kossuth Radio.

According to the politician, given the escalating tensions around Iran, the market is expected to face a shortage of raw materials.

“Given the uncertainty of maritime transport, we demand that Ukraine immediately resume the transportation of oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline,” the minister said.

Szijjártó also noted that any other decision by the Ukrainian authorities would amount to a crime against Hungary.

“If the Ukrainians continue to obstruct this, their actions will be regarded as malicious and will not remain without consequences,” he added.

Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán accused Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky of concealing information about the condition of the Druzhba pipeline. Before that, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that Zelensky was lying about the impossibility of transporting oil through the pipeline, since the proposed alternative route allegedly passes through the damaged section.
