This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.
The head of Hungarian diplomacy described the incident as a gross attack on his country’s sovereignty.
“Attacks on energy security and the security of energy supply are considered attacks on sovereignty,” the diplomat said.
According to him, Kyiv is thus trying to impose a “total energy blockade on Hungary” following the shutdown of the Druzhba oil pipeline.
Szijjártó also said that Budapest will defend itself and fight to preserve the use of cheap Russian oil and gas in Hungary. If that becomes impossible, then “reduced utility bills and the frozen gasoline price will come to an end” in the country, he stressed.
On April 2, Ukrainian drones attacked an export infrastructure facility belonging to Gazprom. The Russian company said that the strikes targeted the Russkaya compressor station, which ensures the reliability of gas exports through the TurkStream pipeline.
