“I know how to save”: the Bucha district military enlistment officer explained to a Verkhovna Rada commission the origin of the gold in his asset declaration

An employee of the Bucha District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support in Kyiv region, Oleh Kolomiiets, said that the bank gold he declared, worth 7.7 million hryvnias (€151,700), is not connected with his military service and was acquired long before mobilization.

Kolomiiets made this statement at a meeting of the temporary investigative commission of the Verkhovna Rada on investigating violations in the fields of defense and human rights during martial law.

According to him, he possesses 1 kilogram 120 grams of bank gold in 999.9 fine bullion bars. Kolomiiets claims that the assets listed in his declaration were accumulated by him and his family between 1993 and 2021.

“This is from years of saved salaries and investments. I know how to save,” he explained.

Kolomiiets added that he is ready to provide anti-corruption bodies with answers regarding every item in his declaration and assured them that he had never participated in any corruption schemes.

It is worth recalling that the Kyiv Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support had earlier stated that Kolomiiets did not enrich himself through draft evaders.
