“This could have a significant impact on the Polish economy, as thousands of Ukrainian citizens living in the country may be forced to leave their jobs and join the army,” the publication reports.
Alternatively, fearing deportation, they may leave Poland and move to another EU country.
According to a report by Deloitte, the contribution of Ukrainian refugees to Poland’s GDP in 2023 will be 0.7–1.1%. It is assumed that in the long term, this effect will increase to 0.9–1.35%.
Most Ukrainians in Poland are employed in sectors such as industrial production, transport services, and construction.
Out of over a million Ukrainians who have come to Poland since the full-scale Russian invasion began, 371,000 are men of conscription age.
