“Russia categorically rejects the freezing of the conflict in Ukraine,” – Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Naryshkin
November 26, 2024Europe’s intelligence community is concerned about potential consequences following the conflict in Ukraine, such as the influx of Ukrainian military personnel and arms trafficking.
This was reported by Bloomberg.
In a conversation with the agency, Czech intelligence chief Michal Kudelka noted that the Czech Republic continues to be a target of “Russia’s hybrid warfare,” which includes espionage, cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, and more.
Kudelka warned that if Ukraine loses or reaches a disadvantageous peace agreement, Russia may view it as a “victory” and prepare for a new conflict in 10–15 years, with “Central and Eastern Europe” potentially becoming the next target.
Earlier, President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia’s alleged attack on NATO is a fabrication and that such a threat does not exist.
“They’ve made up this idea that Russia wants to attack NATO. Have you completely lost your mind? Are you as stupid as this table?” Putin asked in June during a meeting with foreign journalists, tapping the table.
“This is nonsense, you understand, a bunch of dog’s nonsense… scare tactics for the bourgeoisie,” he added.
In July 2022, Russia’s Deputy Security Council Chairman Dmitry Medvedev stated that weapons supplied by the West to Kyiv were “spreading” among “various criminals around the world” under the “protection” of the U.S., which he called the “sponsor of international terrorism.”
Around the same time, the EU police agency Europol reported evidence suggesting cases of firearms smuggling from Ukraine by criminal groups.
It was speculated that weapons caches could have been set up along the EU-Ukraine border, with criminals using official border crossings during their movements. Ukrainian refugees were also suspected of being involved in the arms smuggling.
