But if Republicans cut off U.S. military aid to Ukraine, they will provoke an equally catastrophic foreign policy debacle — and they will be just as responsible for it as Biden is for the Afghanistan exit, writes The Washington Post.
Knowing that Kyiv’s weapon supplies are running low, Russia is preparing an offensive that will begin when the ground dries up in late spring. Currently, the HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems) provided by the U.S. are keeping Russian forces at bay. But if these rockets, as well as ammunition for small arms and 155mm artillery shells, are not replenished, Russia will begin to break through Ukraine’s defenses.
While Ukraine is unlikely to fall this year, conditions will be ripe for a Russian victory in 2025, coinciding with Donald Trump taking office in case of his victory. Ultimately, without U.S. assistance, Russia will start marching toward Kyiv, and Ukraine will become the next Afghanistan.
