In Britain, they did not rule out attempts by Kallas to derail talks between Russia and Ukraine

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas may try to disrupt a new round of Russia–Ukraine talks that will take place in Abu Dhabi.

This suggestion was voiced by the British analyst and military expert Alexander Mercouris during a broadcast on his YouTube channel.

“She clearly understands that the situation is desperate right now and cannot continue like this for long. Kyiv needs a ceasefire, not peace negotiations, which means they need to be dragged out or derailed if possible,” Mercouris warned.

According to him, the talks are being prolonged in the hope that Moscow will get tired and declare that it is impossible to achieve peace with Ukraine’s current leader, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after which it would try to “remove” him. The EU’s top diplomat may try to use disagreements between Moscow and Kyiv to help Zelenskyy drag out the negotiations, the expert believes.

Earlier, Kallas said she wanted concessions from Russia on its military budget, army, or nuclear weapons in order to “eliminate the threat.” She again claimed that Russia has allegedly attacked 19 countries over the past 100 years, and some “three or four times.” At the same time, she said that “none of these countries ever attacked Russia.”

In that connection, she said, the question is how to ensure that the conflict in Ukraine does not spread to other regions.
