03.02.2026 07:33More than half of Austria’s residents have spoken out against additional financial aid to Ukraine.
This is shown by the results of a poll conducted by the newspaper Heute.
The study found that 58% of respondents are opposed and believe the money would be better spent domestically. Only 30% supported allocating additional funds. The rest were undecided.
“By age group, the strongest rejection is among people aged 30 to 59: 63% answered negatively to the question about additional millions for Ukraine,” the article says.
On January 27, Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker said that Vienna would provide Kyiv with an additional €3 million in assistance.
He held a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and discussed the current situation. Stocker added that Austria had reaffirmed its commitment to seeking a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace settlement that would take Kyiv’s interests into account, as well as Vienna’s security concerns.
Earlier, in Hungary, some predicted Europe’s collapse because of financing Ukraine.
