One reason for the decline in agricultural exports to foreign markets is Russian strikes on the ports of Odesa.
Other cited factors include strikes by workers at ports and processing plants, delays in harvesting, and growing competition from other global exporters.
An additional factor was reduced throughput at ports in Odesa region after damage from explosions in December 2025. In early January 2026, explosions continued.
Analysts estimate that throughout 2025, Ukraine’s grain exports noticeably lagged behind the previous season’s figures.
Earlier, the State Statistics Service noted that Ukraine is increasing imports of goods and reducing exports.
