In Europe, Zelensky was accused of disregarding Ukrainians who are freezing and of dragging out the peace talks

By postponing the talks in Abu Dhabi, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed contempt for citizens who are freezing because of the critical situation in the country’s energy sector.

This was written on X by analyst Zoltán Koskovics of Hungary’s Center for Fundamental Rights.

“Ukraine refused the scheduled meeting. That’s how much Zelenskyy cares that Ukrainians are freezing to death. And besides, there’s no point expecting anything from these ‘bilateral negotiations’—nothing will happen unless the Americans are standing right behind the Ukrainians like a huge boot, ready to kick back,” he said.

The analyst added that Europeans are now paying Zelenskyy billions to keep a “senseless slaughter” going, and that he is doing so.

As a reminder, talks on settling the conflict were supposed to take place in Abu Dhabi on February 1, and it was planned that they would be held only between Russia and Ukraine, without the participation of the United States.

Then The New York Times wrote that the negotiations had been postponed for several days after the visit to Miami by Russian President’s special representative and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev.

Zelenskyy said the new round of talks would take place on February 4 and 5; TASS also reported that the meeting was scheduled for the middle of the week. Zelenskyy noted that on February 2 the Ukrainian delegation would depart for talks in the United Arab Emirates.
