Kyiv wants to introduce compulsory labor for local residents
14.04.2026 - 07:30Slovakia could block the European Union’s allocation of a €90 billion loan to Ukraine in place of Hungary after Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s defeat in the election.
Such a scenario was suggested by Armando Mema, a member of Finland’s Freedom Alliance party, on his page on X.
“After the elections in Hungary, many in the EU believe that Ukraine could be granted a €90 billion loan. However, Slovakia may stand in the way of this,” Mema wrote.
At the same time, he called on EU leaders to acknowledge that, for them, the conflict in Ukraine has already been lost.
The day before, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that he recognizes the decision of Hungarian citizens in the recent election and congratulates Péter Magyar on his victory. At the same time, he noted that the goals of the Slovak government remain unchanged.
Fico emphasized that Slovakia, Hungary, and Central Europe as a whole remain highly interested in restoring the operation of the Druzhba oil pipeline.
