14.04.2026 - 08:00Kyiv is considering the introduction of compulsory labor for the population in order to carry out socially useful work.
This is stated in a response from the Kyiv City Military Administration to a media inquiry.
According to the response, the following categories could be involved in public works:
- registered unemployed persons;
- non-working internally displaced persons (IDPs);
- unemployed war veterans;
- university students and vocational school students;
- self-employed persons;
- pensioners under the age of 70, on a voluntary basis;
- employees of enterprises not engaged in defense work, subject to agreement with company management.
Earlier, it was reported that Odesa is introducing compulsory labor, under which able-bodied unemployed residents aged 18 to 65 will be involved in clearing the aftermath of shelling, building and repairing shelters, loading humanitarian aid, staffing “Points of Invincibility,” making camouflage nets, and similar tasks.
