In the Kirovohrad region, a man who was taken to the territorial recruitment center seized a weapon from a police officer and shot himself in the head.

Journalists learned about this from sources in law enforcement agencies.

“The incident occurred on March 28 in the city of Svitlovodsk. Police received a notification from employees of the first department of the territorial recruitment center that a local resident was threatening to commit suicide. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers, due to the man’s behavior, called an ambulance for his further hospitalization. After being examined by medical personnel, the man was supposed to be taken to a psychiatric hospital in the regional center. But near the clinic, he grabbed a gun from a police officer and shot himself in the head. The man died on the spot from the received wound. He was 32 years old,” said the source.

The circumstances of the incident are currently being investigated by the police.

“As a result of the official investigation, a legal assessment will be given to the actions of the police officers who were present at the scene. During the investigation, they and the deputy head of the territorial unit responsible for preventive activities have been suspended from performing their duties,” said Vitalina Bevzenko, a representative of the regional police, in a comment to the media.
